In the saddle since the womb, Alix's passion for horses and horsemanship has only grown. (It helps that she grew up with Jeff Wilson.) She believes riding is a love language that she endeavors to portray here at WDM.

our story - How it all began

WEG 2010. It was quite the event for America, as it was the first time the World Equestrian Games were hosted here in the States and the energy there was amazing.

Something absolutely incredible was about to happen.

2010 World Equestrian Games

We went with Jeff Wilson, Alix's father, who was performing with his Morgan stallions with the AMHA. Jeff was doing something unique at the time, which was showcasing dressage movements from a western saddle. It was at WEG that we met Eitan Beth-Halachmy, the founder of Cowboy Dressage.

We could sense that something new and exciting was in the air.

The AMHA Annual Conference

In March 2011, we went to the AMHA awards dinner recognizing Jeff Wilson for his contribution to WEG, who was unable to attend.

We saw that Eitan was hosting a session and went excited to see what he had to say. "8" and Ellen DiBella were talking about something they had started which no one had ever heard before: Western Dressage.

Article about the AMHA conference here.

the trip of all trips across the west

We realized how important of an opportunity starting a resource would be. We forged Western Dressage Magazine, and charted a route across America of people we could interview on the way to the very first meeting of the Western Dressage Association of America in Colorado.

We attended the first Western Dressage horse show at the Morgan Grand Nationals.

We met with some of the greats: Jack Brainard, Dr. Robert Miller, Sue De Laurentis & Allen Pogue, Cliff Swanson, and Eitan & Debbie Beth-Halachmy.

Despite our car being broken into and getting cleaned out of all our gear, the trip was an epic one that changed the course of our life.

We truly went from coast to coast, gathering information and inspiration to share with the public.

now here we are

We have a family of our own now, with a unicorn enthusiast and a master lego builder. We recently welcomed a new little one who has Morgan as his middle name in honor of the Morgan horse.

We are so proud of this movement. We are so honored to be witness to what happened in the beginning, and can't wait to see all that is yet to come.
